EP Grain Board Members

 

Peter Flanagan – Chairman

Peter is the Managing Director and owner of Cameron Media Sales, as well as Executive Director and part-owner of Moama Grain Services.   Peter has held national and international roles in a diverse range of industries including agriculture media, chemical trading, manufacturing, logistics and banking.   Peter also has extensive consultancy experience with assignments completed in asset management, acquisition and divestment, managing company restructures and mentoring management programs.

 

 

Robert Paterson – Deputy Chairman & Chair of Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee

BEc (Hons), CA, Grad Cert Mgmt
Robert brings extensive Australian and international (in particular in the Asia Pacific region) business experience  to the Board of EP Grain. He has fulfilled roles as General Manager / CEO, Company Secretary and Managing Director of a number of public and private companies and is a management consultant specializing in profit improvement and start-up companies. Robert is currently a Director of FREE Eyre Limited, where he is also Company Secretary and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee. Robert brings significant experience and skills in supply chains, logistics and distribution and corporate governance, and these attributes, as well as his high level of strategic planning and financial acumen, make Robert a welcome addition to the EP Grain Board.

 

 

Colin Wakefield – Company Secretary

Colin has been the Company secretary of EP Grain since the company began operation.  He is also the Company Secretary of SQP and SAG whilst Chairman of Emerald’s Credit Management Committee.  Colin holds over 20 years experience in senior accounting and management roles, having held senior positions with Elders IXL, Pioneer Sugar Ltd and CEC Group Ltd. He has held director roles for a number of companies throughout his career and has been actively involved in successful alliances in a variety of industries.

Tom Wardle – Non Executive Director

Mr Wardle was the founder, managing director and sole shareholder of successful SA rural agency business Wardleco. The business was acquired by ABB in 2008. Tom is again the Managing Director and sole shareholder of Wardleco Real Estate. A fifth generation farmer, the Wardle family have properties on the Eyre Peninsula and Mid-North. Mr Wardle founded the Combined Independent Agents Association' operating out of Gepps x and later Dublin saleyards. This broad past experience and current day to day interest in farming on Eyre Peninsula makes Tom a welcome addition to the EP Grain Board.

 

 Murray de Jong – Non Executive Director

Murray is a Non-executive Director of EP Grain, where he sits on the Risk Management Committee and Grower Services Committee. In addition, Murray currently manages the Emerald’s Western Australian distribution activities based in Perth. This includes the oversight of grain accumulation and working with key consumer, alliance partners and customers in the state.

Prior to his association with Emerald that commenced in 2007, Murray was a solicitor at Hall & Wilcox Lawyers. Murray’s area of expertise is commercial and property law. His experience includes an extended period in Europe working on secondment to APN Funds Management and assisting in the development of its European Property Trusts.

 

 Mark Rodda – Non-Executive Director

Mark joined the EP Grain board as Non-Executive Director in 2011. Mark has focussed his career on serving the rural community and representing their interests in both the domestic and global arenas. Mark is currently the Chief Executive Office of EP Grain’s joint venture partner, FREE Eyre, where he has been busy building on the rapid growth of FREE Eyre's existing strategic agribusiness joint ventures, and indentifying and pursuing further growth opportunities for FREE Eyre.

 

 John Warda – Non-Executive Director

John commenced with Emerald in January 2011 as the Group General Manager, Operations and Supply Chain.  John has had an extensive career in the Australian Grains industry which has spanned over 38 years, the majority of which were spent in senior management and Executive roles in supply chain, logistics and operations. Most notably,  John held the role of Executive Manager Group Operations with publicly listed  ABB Grain, which involved  managing  all the operations for the ABB Group of companies which not only included its storage and handling and supply chain activities but also overseeing the Company’s malting arm, Joe White Maltings, and the Containerisation division, ProGrain.  Post ABB Grain’s merger with Viterra in 2009, John continued in a transitionary Executive Corporate services role until April 2010, before taking up a consultancy role prior to joining Emerald.  John’s industry experience sees him currently holding a Director’s role on the board of ICHCA Australia.
